MPAC SCRUTINISE 2024-2025 ANNUAL REPORT IN PUBLIC HEARING

A crucial step in ensuring Local Government accountability took place recently as the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) conducted a Public Hearing on the 2024-2025 Annual Report at Civic Centre Hall in Lebowakgomo on the 20 March 2026.

The Public Hearing served as a platform for the MPAC to meticulously examine the municipality's achievements and challenges as outlined in the Annual Report. This document, a comprehensive overview of the municipality's activities, financial performance, and service delivery, is a key tool for evaluating its effectiveness. The Public Hearing allowed for members of the public to attend, only as observers.

The Mayor Cllr. Dr Meriam Molala answered questions raised by members of MPAC on various issues relating to performance, financial management and governance issues covering the 2024-2025 financial year period through the Acting Municipal Manager, Dr Minky Chauke.

Following the Public Hearing, the MPAC will compile a report summarising its findings and recommendations. This report will be presented to the Municipal Council for consideration, and the municipality will be required to address the issues raised by the MPAC.

The Public Hearing session was also attended by Executive Committee Members, ward committee members, Municipal Management and other stakeholders.
