MAYOR'S EXCELLENCE AWARDS: CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS AND INSPIRING THE FUTURE

During the Mayor's Excellence Awards ceremony held at Civic Centre Hall in Lebowakgomo on Friday, 21 February 2025, Capricorn South District students, schools, teachers, unions, and circuits were honoured for their academic achievements. As part of the event, Mayor Dr. Cllr Meriam Molala celebrated the hard work and dedication of the education team that excelled in the 2024 academic year in collaboration with Department of Education: Capricorn South District and business sector

This prestigious ceremony recognised outstanding academic achievement among students, schools, educators, and circuit managers. Awards were presented to the top 20 achievers, best performing teachers, the top 3 best schools with bachelor's passes and the top 3 circuits with the most bachelor's passes. They were gifted with laptops, tablets, trophies, and certificates. As an inspiration to their peers, these awards recognise the education fraternity's commitment to academic excellence.

Mayor Molala addressed the audience, congratulating the award recipients. The Mayor emphasised the importance of education as a foundation for future success and expressed her appreciation for the dedication of teachers and school administrators. "To the educators, principals and circuit managers present, you are the unsung heroes of our society. Your passion for teaching, your empathy for your learners, and your tireless efforts to ignite the flame of curiosity within young minds are the cornerstones of progress and development. Your influence extends far beyond the confines of the classroom, shaping the leaders, innovators, and change makers of tomorrow." said Mayor Molala

The ceremony was attended by the 2025 Grade 12 learners, councillors, Capricorn South District Director Ms. Nkuzana, circuit managers, educators, traditional leaders, teachers' unions, parents and sponsors from the business sector.

The ceremony was a joyous occasion that served as a reminder of the potential that lies within our youth and the positive impact that education can have on their lives. The Mayor's Excellence Awards program is a valuable initiative that encourages academic achievement and inspires future generations to strive for excellence.
